BEST and Port Harbor Company hosted an open house Thursday, May 25th to show off three newly built homes on the 300 block of East Third Street. Total new homes built in Erie’s East Bayfront now number 13. But wait, it gets better. BEST is planning two more new homes on the 300 block of East Fourth. Building will begin as soon as possible. Our Vision is to improve the quality of life in the East Bayfront Neighborhood for the residents and assure a stable, desirable working environment for businesses and their employees.

BEST focuses on activities in the area between State Street and Wayne Street from the north side of East Sixth Street north to Front Street.

BEST was first formed in the 1970s as a non-profit development arm of Erie Insurance to rehabilitate the Federal Row townhouses on Holland Street between East Fourth and East Fifth Street. BEST was deactivated for about 20 years after accomplishing this goal. It was reactivated in 2000 as a partnership between the East Bayfront Neighborhood Watch, Hamot and Erie Insurance in response to the East Bayfront Neighborhood Strategic Plan.

BEST Goals are to promote
